Property description

The house is an 19th-century stone building with three floors (100 square metres approximately) In short, the house is made up of: 1 large kitchen with fireplace, 1 living room (with a sofa bed), 2 bedrooms (1 queen-bed room and 1 twin-bed room), 1 bathroom (shower), and 1 laundry (pantry) room. The front door takes you into the hall, where there are the kitchen (on the left side), the living room (on the right) and the stairs, which leads to the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. The house is nestled on a hill, with three floors on one side and two on the other; therefore at the ground floor there is another room (with independent entrance) which is used for a laundry. From the patio,you can go to the private garden (approximately 100 square metres), where there are a table, chairs, sun-umbrella, and BBQ. The house is fully furnished with all new or antique pieces (Tuscan pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries). We have provided a television (satellite), DVD, radio and CD player. We have not yet installed a telephone (there is a public phone in town if you don't have a mobile), but telephone, computer, and internet access are available at our office (not more than 50 metres away). A central heating system (oil-fired) has also been installed. And, naturally, a working fireplace adorns the kitchen, as how would a mountain house be complete without one! Another house of the same owner (suitable for 6 people) is available at approximately 50 meters.

Accommodation details

Pascoso's finest asset, and the most important reason to travel there, is the nature in which it is literally immersed. In many ways, the surrounding mountains and age-old trees are wild and untouched, the dense thickets grow untamed and the canyons, crossed by mule tracks, curl open to reveal sweet pastures where one can lie down in the soft, mountain sun. Pascoso is a hiker's paradise, from short strolls in the hillsides with your children or dog, stopping to taste cool water at a natural spring, to longer hikes, where you can walk all day long without meeting a soul and sleep overnight in one of the many shelters that dot the valley. Many of the mule paths are suitable for mountain bikes and horses, which you can rent in Pascoso. For some hikes you might want to drive a few short minutes to your point of departure, whereas for others, you can leave directly on foot from your front door. And clearly, for visitors with off-road vehicles, the opportunities are endless. A section of the Turrite Stream is reserved for fishing. Trout abound, although, given the low levels of the water, they generally do not grow to be very large. Further downstream, the Turrite flows into a large, artificial basin where the fish are less numerous, but much bigger. For those of you who like an easy catch, there are fishing pools just a few short miles from Pascoso, alongside a fish-breeding center, where you can buy fresh trout. As you may have already imagined, the only sounds you'll hear in Pascoso are dogs barking and townsfolk chatting. Quiet reigns through the mountainside. The area is ideal for hiking, horseback riding (there are two barns where you can rent horses), and biking. A swimming pool is run by a local who, for a small fee opens it to visitors. In mid-August, Pascoso organizes a parade dedicated to the Madonna, in which a statue of the Holy Mother is carried high on a canopy throughout the town.
