The Agriturismo Fattoria is eight kilometres above the lake with a beautiful view over the hillsides sloping down into the water. “Agriturismo Fattoria” means farmhouse which is exactly what this old stone house is, surrounded by twenty-five hectares of land, the only noises off stage being the clucking of chickens and the stamping of animals in their stalls, the intoxicating fragrance of freshly cut hay and the more pungent smells emanating from the animal farm greeting the guests at breakfasts as they look down over the cusp of the lawn towards the blue waters of the lake. Your hosts' father was a vet. responsible for the whole lakeside who was called upon to minister, among other “patients”, to the greyhounds of Gabriele d'Annunzio, whose magnificent villa, Il Vittoriale degli Italiani, is at one end of the lake. Two different venues for guests of the Agriturismo: the first is in the house above the restaurant where there are four bedrooms. The Rosa di Macchia room has two single wrought iron beds and a bathroom with shower. The Viola del Pensiero has a double bed with bathroom with shower. The Viola Mammola is a large room with a four-poster bed and bathroom with tub. The Frutti di Bosco is a room with a double bed and two single beds in the overhead loft with a bathroom with tub. The second half of the Agriturismo is an old stone house dating back to the 1700's with 5 bedrooms: one has two single beds and a double sofa bed and bathroom with tub. The second has a double four-poster bed and a double sofa bed and bathroom with tub. There is also a twin-bedded room with a double sofa bed and a bathroom with tub. Two more large rooms: one with two single beds with a little terrace and an overhead gallery with a queen-sized bed and a bathroom with tub, the other a twin-bedded room with an overhead gallery with two single beds. All the rooms have television and telephone. English, French and German are spoken. Pets and children are welcome and there are cots for infant guests. Dinner in the restaurant. There you will be welcomed by a stretch of lawn and beach equipped for bathing, where your privacy is assured by the impenetrability of the adjacent reeds. The sandy shore gradually declines into the lake, lending to a shallow area that is well-suited for swimming, even for small children. A splendid “ontano” (alder), a typical lake tree, sinks its roots directly into the shore and acts as a frame for this suggestive corner of the lake. Canoe outings along the reeds will allow you to bird watch the many species found on the lake, while sun worshipers can enjoy laying in the sun on the beach, or directly on the water on one of our “Malibu” floating beds. Upon request, we can organize informal meals directly on the beach. Homemade jams (kiwi, plum, fig, raspberry, kumquat) and breakfast sweets will cheer your stay.
