Our "Fattoria" is a charming estate in the Chianti area, just a breath away from the city of Siena. Up on the hill, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, woods, rows of cypress, and gently sloping hills, the estate offers an enchanting view of the town of the famous Palio. This land shows all the poetry of an ancient time tied up with its name to Piccolomini's family. When E. S. Piccolomini was elected Pope, Pius II, he could not resist playing God in his home village, Corsignano. That village, in the south of Siena became a papal patronage and later on was called Pienza. Our hamlet, just 10 km from Siena and 40 km from Pienza, on the way from SS 222 to Vagliagli, was one of the final borders of the Pope's estate, hence its name. The estate was love at first sight. In the 1980s we bought it: 50 acres of land including nearly 20 acres of vineyards, 4 acres of olive groves and 4 homesteads scattered on the property. Firm in our purpose we faced many troubles. Only at the beginning of 1990s did I, Elena, and my husband Mario, started to devote ourselves completely to this enchanting land. Little by little, faithfully and calmly, we made this farm the purpose of our lives. Arriving to the estate, on the gravel road through the cypress, olive orchard and rows of delicate roses, you are fascinated by the sea of vine up on the sweet hills and the fantastic view of the famous city of Siena. A huge century pine-tree makes the frame to an unforgettable panoramic scenery, and all around the fragrances of rosemary, sage and lavender come up to your nose to make you dream. In this pleasant setting, our 4 lovely homesteads has been converted to 10 charming apartments recently restored preserving the pure Tuscan style of terracotta floors, wood beamed ceilings and stonewalls. We have filled them with thousands family memories, chests, kneading-troughes, antique glass cases, and also pieces of antique furniture which little by little we have discovered in the local markets and have been restored by the wise touch of the Tuscan hand crafters. You will enjoy all the grace and fantasy of colors decorating our rooms walls with pale sage, or pink or saffron paints …as well as intense light blue and ochre jellow paints. We wish to offer you a familiar atmosphere, taking care of you with many little thoughts….with our books which we put at your disposal to have some relax in the calm afternoons, with fresh flowers, little and cute plants, special breakfast with homemade sweets…delighting you with the history of the farm and the surrounding, and showing you the pleasant routes in the Chianti land which will make your stay to be an unforgettable one. Each apartment is "a home sweet home" with all modern conforts and with a wonderful view of Siena or the valley, separate outside entrance, parking and a terrace, a garden or a porch. Also, the large, tempting swimming-pool, the poolside terrace and the barbecues, offer some very relaxing moments. A spin in a hot air balloon, a ride on mountain bikes or horseback, a game of bocce or cards may all be welcomed fun. SERVICES: To our guests, we offer a tasting of all our products with visit of the wine cellar and explanation of the art of making wine, and we also offer a guided tour of the town of Siena. Swimming-pool, mountain-bikes, laundry and barbecues are at disposal of our clients. A wood track shows all the typical plants of the Tuscan wood: junniper, holm-oak, oak….Treatments, massages, and wellness moments can be organized completely in the nature surroundings. Special discounts for wonderful days to the spa are available. Also, on request, we are able to organize pleasant tour and exciting excursions or activities like some interesting lessons of Italian language (italian class), l'arte di far di cucina (cooking class), l'arte di scolar la pasta (pasta class), l'arte dell'erbolario (herbs class), l'arte di vendemmiare (grape harvesting) e di coglier l'oliva (olive harvesting) and also gold working class, painting and ceramics class. A service of Half Board and Full Board is possible by the charming restaurant in the estate. NOT TO LOOSE: Lovely homesteads, castles, monasteries and abbeys are in the neighbourhood. Daily excursions to Siena, Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Perugia as well as to the ancient villages of San Gimignano, Volterra, Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano are easily possible. Tuscany is more than history - Tuscany is endless rolling countryside, buzzing village piazzas, full- bodied Tuscan wine, and friendly faces - all to be enjoyed under the mythic Tuscan sun. Our "Fattoria " is also a large estate of 50 acres in the Chianti Classical Black Rooster area. It is a family-run farm. I, and my wife Elena, with a little selected equipe, we follow all the Chianti Classico wines production, and we personally take care of our welcome guests. Nearly twenty acres of this land are devoted to the wine production, and four acres to the olive oil's one. Almost 40.000 Chianti Classico wine bottles, Grappa, Vin Santo, extra vergin olive oil and olives are produced.
